I was wondering which monitor you guys thought would be better for an external video editing monitor.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

and this is the monitor that i already have

Features that I would like: 200 dollars for the price 1080p, around 23 inches, dvi preferrable or hdmi, not sure weather or not led or lcd, and not sure wheather or not 2ms or 5ms

You want an LED backlight LCD (both of those are this type despite the description difference), and it does not matter if it has 3 or 5ms response time.

I would go with first. Having the LED backlit and the 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio. And yea the timing is nothing. I see no different between 2 3 and 5 even when playing games or 60-90 FPS videos

I thought that all the companies do the contrast ratio differently so you can't really compair

Not really sure about them doing it differently. Never read up on that. But if that is the case then you can only compair to your current monitor with a 20,000:1 vs a 10,000,000:1?

If the contrast ratio is anything like what they do for televisions then you can't rely on what is reported. Much of it is marketing hype. If there is any way possible to see a side by side comparison that would be the best way to see which one is best.
