Unlock acer laptop 9410z hdd password

my grand use my acer aspire 9410Z laptop last semester and he forgot the hdd password he place on my computer. my manuel does not explain how to unlock and fix this problem.

The whole idea behind that password is to prevent people who DON'T have the password from getting access to the data on the HDD. About the only suggestion I can make is to do a restore to factory original. Unfortunately, that meas losing all your data and having to re-install all of your Applications..
