Laptops

I'm shopping for a midgrade Laptop.
I'm going to replace my aging P4 Dell.
I want to know if anybody makes a list of which models/brands have CPU's that can be upgraded.
Or which brands are the most modifiable.
(I'm a tweaker)
Does anybody monitor this stuff?

A guy here picked up an amd inspirion and upgraded it to a phenom x4 and 8gb of ram he got it from the dell outlet total cost $600

I have gotten lucky with other laptops I have upgraded, but it seems to be the "luck of the draw".
Is there any standard that lists MOBOs in "some" series LT's are socketed and others are soldered?
It seems that no knows until after a few months and the people cry out, "it's slow now, I want a faster CPU or GPU!!!"
Does anybody do a review that includes a LT's socketed architecture?

I noticed that almost all AMDs are socketed on the LT MOBO.
I may go that way...Thanx
