I just installed slashem-0.0.7E7F1-fc3.i386.rpm on a fC4 box.
Everything seems to be working but I don't seem to have a defaults.nh
file anywhere.
Does this version of the game still utilize the defaults.nh file and if
so, where can I get it? The main thing I want to change for starters
is that right now, the game is not prompting for a character name, and
just setting it equal to my Linux user name.

Thanks,

Shouldn't that be .nethackrc in your home directory? Anyway, you might
have more luck asking next door in rgrn (XP and followup set).

that's default on a multi-user machine. Just invoke nethack with
"nethack -uname-rol-rac-gen-alg". Oh, and read the Guidebook.

Yes, it should.

If you set the username to "player" in the rc-file, the game will ask
you for the name, when it starts.
