Assuming that I could purchase a 24" TN panel or a 21" IPS panel at the same price, which should I choose based on:

* Software development and normal office usage with dual monitors
* ease on eyes desired
* no gaming
* no picture editing,etc

I'm really temped to go with the larger screens as screen real estate matters because all of the usual IPS arguments don't seem to apply to me. But I have not compared a TN right next to an IPS yet to actually see the differences. I have $200 to spend, btw.

What do you think?

You can get a 23" IPS for under $200. I'd definitely recommend that over a 24" TN for your purposes.

There is also a 24" M-VA panel from BenQ that would have true 8 bit color. Since you aren't gaming the slightly higher response times inherent to VA panels won't be an issue.

Either one is going to be superior to a TN in viewing angles and color. If screen size trumps everything else you can get a 26" Hanns-G TN monitor for $199.99.

Dell U2312HM or the ASUS I would say, although the AOC looks really nice. I personally have issues with using HDMI for PC displays for various reasons (is it really that hard to include Displayport?)
