Router has to be reset for printer to connect properly

I have a Windows 7 64 bit laptop and my grandfather has a Windows XP 32 bit. We have a printer in our basement that is connected to our router via a wireless connection. However, when I try to print the printer does not show up until I reset the router, then I scan for printers and install it back using my current driver and it works fine until my grandfather uses his laptop. He then has to reset the router to get the printer to work for his laptop and its a never ending cycle. I am not at home right now and I forget the name of the router and printer, if you need that info let me know. Any ideas on what is happening? I think it is the router's problem but before I go out and buy another I want to ask the experts. Thank you!
