To all the AMD Lemmings out there - I have now joined the crew!! After years of using Intel I saw a good deal on a KT7A board, and figured what the heck I'll give it a try. A dealer let me hand-pick an AXIA chip for overclocking, too, so I'm now running at 1400 Mhz. So far, this chip eats my Intel 1 GHz for lunch, and doesn't run that much hotter with proper cooling!! Intel had better pull up its socks with regards to price/performance the next time around, that's for sure!

Yeah, Intel saw no competition and somewhat 'slacked off' a few years. I hope Intel would really release a more useful processor than 'enhancing your Internet experience' my foot.

Griz, I got it from a small store on Steeles Ave in Markham. They had a bunch of AXIAs just sitting there, and the guy working didn't seem to care that I sorted through the chips to get the right one!

yes i know but they are charging extra for the AXIA. If i can go get one for the same price as a normal 1GHz TBIRD!!!

Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is so special about an AXIA chip? How is it different from a normal T-bird?

Its just the markins from which batch the core came from. It's still the same T-bird core. But the axia batches have been highly overclocable.

Some avia's have been very good too. I got a avia0109 1GHZ to run at 1450.. with a taisol HSF

I just ordered a 1Ghz AXIA from <A HREF="http://www.kdcomputers.com" target="_new">KD Computers</A> for $187. That was the cheapest place I found that sold AXIAs. Plus they have a kick a$$ rating on <A HREF="http://www.resellerratings.com/vendone.cgi?KDComputers" target="_new">resellerratings.com</A>. I was really impressed when I got a shipping notification only one hour after I placed my order.

haha, this is what I say to the Hi-Fi IDIOT community

They are stupid, because they never spent money buying expensive things like CD transport, DAC, amplifiers etc. All they waste their money is on good loudspeaker and make sure the room acoustics doesn't screw the sound up.

And I say this to the normal HI_FI community, you guys are such a smart arss, buying all the branded Transport, DAC, high-end expensive amplifiers and don't care much about the loudspeaker and shxt about the room's acoustics.


So congratulations for joining the AMD lemmings, so am I, always spent the hard earn $$$ on where performance speaks the most,

and in Hi-Fi, take my advice, be an IDIOT, waste around 70% to 90% of your hard earn cash on loudspeaker, and make sure you study enough acoustics to make sure your room isn't causing all the troybles and stop blaming the DAC and amplifier.

CD-player, transport, DAC, amplifier, cables all account for less than +/-10% of the total sound you hear.

around 70% due to the room, at least 20% or more from the loudspeaker and finally, less than 10% on expensive toys the normal HI_FI community buys.

70% due to room, proof, why else your voice change when you walk from the living room to kitchen to bedroom to outdoor?
