Half-Life errors

I am having trouble running Half Life on Windows 2000. It was running earlier today but I reinstalled it tonight and now when I run hl.exe it says that it has generated an error. Please help!! I'm at a LAN and I need Half Life to run.

just patch win2000 with SP1 and SP2 and make sure directx is the latest 8.1 and patch HL to the latest version and then it should work.

PS make sure you use the latest driver for your video card too.
