Forum Cell Phones & Smartphones : Palmpilot How to write a Fuser for Printing on PalmOS?

Hello,

I'm trying to develop an application on SPT1800 palmos (by symbol) and
I need to print text through that application using a SiPix A6
printer. I have tried using third party fusers but they are too slow.
Can anyone here tell me how I can write one of my own using AppForge's
MobileVB?

Thanx!

One thing is writing the Fuser. If you have at least some (!)
experience in writing C code, it's not too difficult. In your samples
folder you'll find a basic fuser skeleton that you can expand to fit
your needs.
The other thing of course, is writing something like a 'printer
driver'. Even if that's not exactly what you need to do, the
requirements are defintely higher than just 'some C' (I would say,
'good C' and 'good knowledge of PalmOS'). If you tried all existing
printing solutions (what about SCS print server from Steven Creek
Software? Works with MobileVB) and found them all too slow, I would
wonder if there might be a reason, why even the 'professionals' in
printing have problems with your chosen printer ...

Hi Ingbert!

Thanks for your reply. I have no problem whatsoever writing code in C
as long as I can get some starting tips. I'll keep in touch with you if
I need any help; I hope you won't mind! :)

Thans again!
Yousuf
