Whatever you decide to do, do NOT fully discharge the battery like a NiMH one, hoping to erase the "memory". Li-ion batteries do not have "memory" and every time they're fully discharged they lose some cells, so they will have less capacity. Eventually, the capacity will decrease to the point where they won't be able to keep a full charge, like it's already happening. my advice, use it plugged in and if you need it to work reliably unplugged just get a new battery from a reliable source (not some shoddy seller that may give you a used/shot battery).
Just my 2 cents...

Just run out of the power in the battery, and charge it again. Good luck

I have also acer aspire 5741g I have 3 (three) batteries bought from Amazon I have been experiencing decreasing duration performance of the batteries (100% full charged) One lasts 01 hr 40 min, second one lasts 01 hr 07 mins, third lasts 0 hr 24 mins I think the mobile power performance spec of the aspire 5741G is about 2hrs (?) Could the problem be the laptop main h/w rather than the batteries
