I have a P III socket 370. can I replace it with socket 370 AMD? I thought u can if both are socket 370.

Just get a new motherboard and a brand new CPU. It will only set you back another $100 max. BTW, good choice on the Athlon :)

Another note...The Athlon is not socket 370. That 370 means the P3 has 370 pins, the Athlon is like 473 pins or something like that. Thats all!

Why would you want to throw out a perfectly good mobo. You can get a P3 850 for $150 or so now. With some decent air cooling you can get that sucker up to a gig (Depends on your Mobo).
