configing 1+ ghz CPU speed question.

Hi, I just purchased an AMD 1.133 ghz T-bird, an Asus A7v133 motherboard, and 256MB PC133 SDRAM. I have a question on setting the cpu speed to 1.133 ghz and 266 FSB. During the POST at startup, does the bios automatically detect the CPU at 1.133 ghz? Also once inside windows will any software programs (I'm using the asus pcprobe) automatically detect the cpu at 1.133 ghz? I ask this because everywhere I look (startup, windows, etc...) it says I have an 850 mhz. If the company sent me an 850 mhz cpu obviously I'll be sending it back, but I don't know how to check. Does anyone know where/how to find out exactly what speed my CPU is built as? On the cpu there's only gonna be serial numbers I'm assuming. Now I've gone in the asus bios and set the DRAM speed to 133 but then my computer won't boot. I get continuous beeps meaning "no ram installed." I could understand if I actually do have only an 850 it wouldn't boot because that cpu wouldn't do 266 FSB. Could anyone help me out? I do know about computers, just not that much about CPU/RAM clock speeds, etc...
thanks,

<b>During the POST at startup, does the bios automatically detect the CPU at 1.133 ghz?</b>
I think it does as long as you leave it at <b>JumperFree mode</b> setting. For <b>Jumper mode</b> it should show how to set in your manual or you can go here
http://www.asus.com.tw/products/motherboard/socketa/a7v133/jumper.html
<b>Also once inside windows will any software programs (I'm using the asus pcprobe) automatically detect the cpu at 1.133 ghz?</b>
Asus PCProbe only monitors temperature, voltage and fans on your system. Some programs as
Sandra (http://www.sisoftware.co.uk/sandra)
WCPUID (http://www.h-oda.com/)
Motherboard Monitor {http://mbm.livewiredev.com)

can detect CPU's speed.
<b>I ask this because everywhere I look (startup, windows, etc...) it says I have an 850 mhz.</b>
Because your system is running at 100MHz FSB by <b>Default</b>(8.5 X 100 = 850MHz). Get in your <b>BIOS</b> and see if you can change it to 133MHz which is actually your CPU's true setting (8.5 X 133 = 1130MHz).
<b>Does anyone know where/how to find out exactly what speed my CPU is built as?</b>
On your CPU's chip-on-die (the blue square thing) should have someting as <b>A1130xxxC</b> indicates Athlon (first letter <b>A</b>), 1.13G speed and the last letter <b>C</b> is its FSB (<b>B</b> for 100MHz or 200DDR and <b>C</b> for 133MHz or 266DDR).
<b>I get continuous beeps meaning "no ram installed." I could understand if I actually do have only an 850 it wouldn't boot because that cpu wouldn't do 266 FSB. </b>
Have you tried another different PC-133 RAM?
