I'm probably missing this somewhere in the settings, but I can't for the
life of me figure out where. Is there any way of setting something so
that if you try to eat something from the floor, you get the traditional
y/n response a la Vanilla? And does this possible option allow you to
read gravestones and graffiti normally?

I dont know- but I like the slashem way a lot better.. Esp cause
it lets you eat a corpse not on top of a large pile without prompting for
each one, and it makes your actions more explicit, reducing the risk
of stupid death (say having food rations set to inven letter 'y', and
eating one while standing on a pile of stuff with a 'c' corpse...)
