I am looking to purchase a computer to run Office apps and Peachtree Accounting. It will run on Win 2000. Is there still a problem with Athlon and Win 2000. I heard some rumors of problems but don't know exactly what they are. I am also looking at P3. P4 doesn't meet the budget. Thanks for your input.

No problems at all.
I have been using several Athlon systems for over a year now and never noticed any problem with Win2000. BTW, my system never hanged.

I have 6 people i know with Athlons/Duron and windows 2000

All fine =)

P.S

With windows 95, 98, 98se, 2000 and ME
Always do the Windows Update and get the critical Updates for Windows..

I highly reccommend it.

Same here. There was one Registry patch for Win2K+Athlon, but that's old news. I applied that and got a rock-solid system.
