Ati/amd 4250 vs Intel HD graphics?

Reason I ask is because we were looking at a few laptops with hd4250's in them because we know that they'll run wow for my girlfriend. However, there are quite a few laptops similarly priced with more ram & better processors but running Intel HD Graphics. How big is the difference if any? Maybe in terms of bandwidth with gpuz? I've checked around but cant find much on the HD graphics.

Thanks all in advance!

You can grab quality laptops with ATI 5650 and the Nvidia equivalent for around $600. It will make a huge difference in gameplay, I played WOW recently on a 4250 and I am finally upgrading. Even at the lowest settings she may have problems now with Cataclsym out if you go the 4250 route.

I actually almost got an Acer for $544 with a 5650 17inch display. Didn't pull the trigger and I watched it jump back up to $610 in three days, lulz.

But for an example here's an Acer on Amazon for $699 with 17inch, ATI 6650 and the such. http://www.amazon.com/Acer-AS7552G-5430-17-3-Inch-Laptop-Black/dp/B004G60072/ref=sr_1_27?m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1297515147&sr=1-27

I'm not saying to buy it, I'm just giving you an example of what you...

I'm not saying to buy it, I'm just giving you an example of what you should expect for your money in that range. If you hit the $600-$700 range take no less than a 5650. Heck, in the $500-$600 take nothing less than the 5650 equivalent.

For the record, ATI 6550 and up run Direct X 11. From what I've heard for WOW, there's a very easy walkthrough available that lets you go into your WTF or the other non-cache folder and change a sentence that activates the Dx11 and improves your framerate quite a bit.

Summation, you don't want intergrated graphics for WOW.
(I got an ASUS G73jh-rbbx05 refurb for $870+$5 for the RMA shipping on the broken AC adapter they sent me. Stupid refurb tech didn't check the AC dongle, it was broken off to the side. The lappy itself looks and runs brand new. Just can't run it now without my AC adapter for recharging :pfff: )

I would have definitely pulled the trigger on the acer you linked @ 699 except I didn't want such a big screen. 15.6 was the biggest I was willing to go and I'm pretty happy with my purchase. Thanks guy for the answers and being honest about the integrated poop :) Have a great weekend!
