Slashem question: wishing for the Gauntlets of Defense

In a recent wizard mode slashem game, when trying to equip my monk, I
got the answer that no such object existed in the game when wishing for
the Gauntlets of Defense. I tried alternative ways to wish, leaving out
the "blessed" and "fireproof" attributes and switching from "Gauntlets
of Defense" to "Gauntlets of Defence", but to no avail.

Is this a bug? Can it be circumvented by reformulating the wish?

On a related note, I cannot wish for a "blessed tin of floating eye
meat", but I get one, if I wish for a "blessed tin of floating eye".
With dragons, I can wish for a tin with their meat or just a "tin of red
dragon", it works both ways.

This is bug 497612. Asking for the "gauntlets of defense" all in
lowercase will give you what you want.
