I bought a cheap webcam from a pharmacy a couple days ago. The package said pjc-4000, but the camera had Chateau (famous $ store brand) written on it.
It worked well but had a white hot pixel on the display, so I returned it. I got another camera in exchange but it didn't have Chateau written on it, so it must have been a genuine PJC pharmacy brand.
This 2nd camera functioned, but when I would record something it would hang for a long time (using Windows Movie Maker), and the final product would play twice as fast as it should, and half-way through it would be frozen and empty even though media player still let it run to the end.
I tested it on 2 computers both with xp sp3 and had the exact same problem. Interestingly, I tried it on an older computer and it worked fine. I was trying to figure out why, until I realized that the old computer has xp sp2, not sp3.
Could this webcam actually be meant to run on XP sp2 but not on sp3?
