I requested Return Merchandise Auths on all the [-peep-] I mentioned in my below post. Question is... now what do I buy? I have never fried anything and have always built fast and well-maintained computers. I suppose I am now a little superstitious about AMD? Anyway, what motherboard/processor/ram combo should I buy with the best performance. And what are the costs? I've heard DDR RAM is futile in many ways. Is RAMBUS any better? Let me know,

Brian

If you can put together your own system , check www.pricewatch.com:

PC800 RDRAM 256MB total = $186
P4 1.7GHZ = $395
Good P4 motherboard = $159
ATX 2.03 case = $19

The rest of the components are pretty much the same no matter what CPU you buy, such as hard drive, cdrom drive, video adapter, etc... get what you can afford.
