I am a stockmarket trader , i have heard rumours about AMD
using Isotopic silicon in their CPU's from 1.7 Gig and upwards, Isotopic Silicon allows faster clock speeds, data transfer rates etc , at 90 % less heat output , and reduced power consumption, The Australian company Silex is developing this technology, and i am told is poised to sign manufacturing liscenses with AMD .
Has anyone heard any more about this ?
I beleive that US company Isonics is also involved.
Of interest to me is whether AMD has or will buy the rights to use this technology, and whether Intel will also follow suit.
Anyone help here ?

We should look online for some more info

This is not a rumor. I believe a system CPU based on Isotopically Pure Silicon was demonstrated at the last Comdex show, which just had a heatsink. I've heard that the technology could be in place as soon as the core after Palomino, i.e about Q2/Q3 next year. I would expect they'll put it into more expensive mobile processors first.

oh yea i almost forgot to put in some info on the original problem. lately there hasnt been any confirmations from amd itself, there has just been a lot of rumors stating that there will/wont be istopically pure silicon at the launch of the palamino. i am pretty sure amd is committed to this in the long run but as for the initial launch of the chip, its still up for debate.

I think most of us heard this rumour.. I thought Isotopic Silicon is also referred to as "Pure Silicon".. Only the 1.7 Ghz part.. more likely to be 1.53+.. but no one really knows.. and the 90% seems *very* optimistic to me.. where did you get that from ? The cpu you are talking about is the Palomino, the soon te be released follow up of Thunderbird.. As far as I understood, pure silicon will only help reduce cpu temperature.. (and therefore, it will allow faster cpu's ).. Also, Palomino is rumoured to have enhanced branch-prediction unit and hardware-prefetching.. that could make it a bit faster than existing T-birds clock for clock, but it has nothing to do with isotopic silicon.

here is some reading for ya:
