I have just recieved a PIII (SECC2) with a heatsink attached. I want to remove this heatsink and replace it with a heatsink/fan. The posts holding the heatsink are plastic.

Do I just have to pull these out? The replacement has metal posts with a retention clip that holds them in place. I am afraid of breaking the chip while tring to get these old posts out.

Any help would be useful.
