How odd, I had absolutely zero problems with it. Opened it in Konqueror, and it pulled right up.

Well, I suppose it's quite funny. But anyone can do that AMD Athlon thing, heck, you can put whatever you want there. You just fiddle with oeminfo.inf in \windows:

[General]
Manufacturer=Crapola Inc.
Model=1333GF3

[Support Information]
Line1="Don't call us, ever."
Line2="If you do, we won't answer."

Then the image is oemlogo.bmp in \windows\

How can you take a screen shot?

I need more information on that, I couldn't find the oeminfo.inf file, do I need to create it?

Yo, Veretron, if its so easy how the hell do you do it in Windows 2000? I scoured my C drive looking for any file that would do that and I also tore apart my registry. I'm stuck. Please let me in on the secret.

crashman this is all you need to do:

[General]
Manufacturer=AmdMeltdown, terrorizer o' Amd puppies
Model=Pentium4 @ 2.0Ghz

[Support Information]
Line1=" "
Line2=" For support, sales, upgrades or questions:"
Line3=""
Line4=" Your biz name here"
Line5=" ADDRESS"
Line6=" ADDRESS"
Line7=""
Line8=" tel"
Line9=" fax"
Line10=""
Line11=" http://www.yoursite.com"
Line12=" email: yourname@yoursite.com"

save file as oeminfo.ini in c:\windows\system\ also, your oemlogo.bmp should be 180x180 (not sure) mine is 120x90 the color is set at 8 colors, the default grey is 192.192.192 and blends in nicely(transparent) with the background.

now if you're selling AMD systems and put your number in there, watch how your service calls double or triple in volume.

hope this helps.

Yes, that's exactly why I WOULD NOT put that information in there!

Hey Mr. Meltdown. Do you know how to do it in Win2K is it the same procedure?

Reply to Anonymous

Benjamin, its the same procedure in win2k except save it the winnt/system32 directory and also the .bmp file should be 172x172 pixels in order to fit correctly.
