I Feel Stupid

To the tune of I Feel Pretty from West Side Story

I feel stupid,
Oh so stupid,
I feel stupid and silly and low,
And I envy
Any wiz who isn't me just now.

Wizard doing Gehennom bottom up, works through Rodney's
tower like always. At the top all the monsters but the
peaceful umber hulk and those in Rodney's little room are
eliminated. I'm so borderline on weight, stashing a wand was
necessary to become unencumbered. I could just leave a
?oEarth here, or why not go ahead and fill the moat?

You see where this is headed, don't you? Yup, the umber hulk
let Rodney out. After some double trouble and some summoning
I finally had things under control again, sort of. There are
15 levels of Gehennom to be done and Vlad to be dealt with
and Rodney will be dogging me all the way. Sigh, collect the
papyrus spell book and invoke the Eye to return to the main
stash in the castle.

It gets worse. I go to the good old BoH to move some of my
collected treasures and it's not there! Oh, no. I didn't
remember dropping it during the big fight. The /oCancel is
still in inventory. Must have dropped my bag in Rodney's
tower. So, I gather up some essentials in a spare sack and
levelport back to the portal level and slog through the
tower again. No BoH. Detect Treasure shows a ring under the
water but no BoH.

I guess I'm going to have to freeze/fill the entire moat and
then dig the whole thing out which won't be easy since I
think my only /oCold and remaining scrolls of earth are in
the bag. Maybe an extended sac session for spellbooks.

I'm certain that I took the ?oEarth out of the bag just
before the trouble started. Any suggestions?
