It's good & bad

Good that more memory patents are in the public domain rather than tied tightly to RAMBUS Inc.

Bad that a whole heap of money has now gone to lawyers (and more to come with appeals) instead of into R&D.

This is good news. All computer memory users can save on the 3.5% royalty to RAMBUS for DDR-RAM!

It sounds like very little money but can add up over time to an average user.
