Disabling headphone jack?

You are referring to a hardware issue, not anything that has to do with
Windows.

Most, if not all headphone connectors on computers are designed to mute the
speakers when the headphone jack is inserted, on the theory that if you
wanted to hear sound through the speakers you wouldn't be using headphones.

A place like Radio Shack might have a switch that will let you more easily
choose between headphones and speakers.

No, it's a hardware switch. However, you can use a switch like
http://www.cyberguys.com/templates [...] 1=104+0425 to
quickly swap back and forth...
