Hi..
How do i run a benchmark test? i just started building my first system. I would like to know how to run a benchmark test? (so i can impress my friends with how smart i am, j/k)Is it software or .....? Also, can anyone recommend any good books about building, repairing & testing computers?

Just know one thing...once you start bmarking you won`t ever stop. Yes it is done with sortware that tests your current hardware\software.

The current big names are Madonion`s 3dMark2001 for graphics and my personal fav is Sisoft`s Sandra. There are alot more out there but as a novice I would start there.

Those are pretty good programs forbenchmarking. As for the books, well I think these are good, Building a pc - for dummies and Upgrading & Fixing PCs For Dummies, 5th Edition, The computer repair handbook. Probably available at any bookstore or online.
