I just read several posts where people groaned when people installed Norton System Works on the computers they sold them. I was wondering what was so wrong with the software.
I have used System Works and it has on 2 occasions fixed my crashing problems (both times were with Win98se). I have found it a very useful program. I have Norton Antivirus running in the background, all other parts of System Works only start when I tell them. Do people just not like it because it slows down the computer? Or does it sometimes cause more problems than it fixes?
I am asking because I plan on buying Windows XP soon so I will do a fresh install on a new hard drive. (I am using an illegal copy right now and I like using legal software... The only way I have been justifying it to myself was by saying I would buy it when I could afford it (prices came down and I could get more money)
Anyway, I am considering not installing System Works at all since WinXP is much more stable than Win98, but it still claims to find and fix errors with my current version of XP. Is there other software that does the same thing, but is better? McAfee?
