My old computer speakers work with my new computer but the sound is very low

I bought a new computer tower last night it came with keyboard and mouse im using my old montor and speakers till i can afford new olds The speakers work but the sound is extremly low and i have it maxed out My old computer was about 5 years old, Do need powered speakers/

got it plugged into the green hole on the back of the motherboard/tower?
