I usually start with the following, disable Direct X4, fastwrite, and slow down memory. Out side of that, don't know.

edit: on second thought just try disabling the sound card in device manager first.
-----
pull the sound card, get everything creative out of the system, all the drivers and registry entries and programs. Then turn the sound off in SoF and run it again, bet it goes fine, if it does, go buy a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz and be happy.

On the other hand, if it still crashes...your pc needs a psychiatrist.

well, i have it going, "somewhat". i switched the desktop resolution to 640x480. it crashed once tonight, which i can deal with. i would like to get rid of that sound blaster though. its not even the hardware, but the fact it seems creative doesnt give a [-peep-] as long as they are still #1. their drivers are crap. oh well.... for another day. thanks again.

Thats 100% true, they dont. And they never will, they spent oogles of money to kill the best pc sound company in the business before they could become serious competition. Worse than MS.

Just what sound card are you using though, man? Is it an old SB 1024? a live 5.1? (almost as bad) or a new audigy? An audigy should work fine for ya, but the live 5.1's and older creative cards should be burned. I saw your new post about Serious Sam messing up. You need to be using an Audigy or a Santa Cruz/GTXP for games these days....if you don't your asking for trouble.

The problem is not anything to do with graphics, its EAX, I GUARANTEE you its a sound card conflict. I cannot guarantee that a new card will fix it all, but i'd put the odds at around 95% that it will. Be sure to completely eradicate the live drivers and software before installing a new card. Believe me, the upgrade will be worth it anyhow.
