Greetings Everyone:
Stupid Question time :) My 950 Athlon Slot A processor seems to have 128K of L1 cache. I also have available 512K of L2 Cache according to the Post on my Bios. I have the option to enable the L2 cache or disable it. Presently I have it disabled. Is this the right thing to do or should I reenable it??? Just asking is all :) If any of you have any thoughts on this Please let me know. Thanks

EEEEEEKKKKKK

enable enable enable!
thats what cache is there for! to be used to speed instruction fetching up!
why do u think a duron doesnt perform as well as a athlon at the same bus speed (100) and clock speed (say 900)
more cache = better = happier YOU.

if you dont believe me, try benchmarking your processor with and without the various 2 caches on.

enable all the caches before you complete reading this post.
and disable them all if you really want to know how slow a pc can run...

The CMOS is a flash memorie that store the bios you can only discharge it.
In theory you cache suppose to be enable if i were you i put the defailt setting.
In theory is suppose to enable it.

put it this way...
on my cellery500 i tried different setting and benchmarked using norton utilites
with L1 & L2 both on it recored a score around 175
when i turned L2 off it dropped to maybe 165-170
when i turned L1 off i never benchmarked it, i actually gave up waiting for it to boot. it took about HALF an HOUR just to get to the windows startup screen!
