just bought a laptop around this Christmas, I'm sure it'll be obsolete soon...
point is, they'll all be obsolete, in really short order.
they always are.
same with cars, unless you buy a dirt cheap car and taxi without ever having to do any maintainance, you're gonna lose your ass.
its the nature of the beast.

You could but a performance car made by some little company that only makes 20 cars a year.
Or maybe buy a Ferrari 250GTO. :)
Mmmmm.... appreciation!

Well its not really a rig, but I bought 2 128meg PC133 cas 2 dimms back in August 2000 from Crucial Technologies. I paid about 180 a piece for them. Thats 360 bucks for memory alone. Damn Tawian earthquake, and me needing new PC133 memory. Now with prices dropping like a rock, I can get over 256 megs for the half of what I paid for one stick of 128 then.

Hey wait... those puppies cost $241 (around $390 with a motherboard)... not $700. ;) The only parts Northwood will replace are the CPU and motherboard after all.

What stuff 'was' when he bought it? But he didn't buy one. Therefore, I see no problem with using current prices.
