I just finished my 1000 turns of the Robin game, and have emailed Chris
Stenico the file and extensive notes. All that happened was I got
through about 1.5 levels of Sokoban. In the future, I think people
playing Sokoban should get 2000 turns; otherwise it is extremely
ungratifying. I told Chris to go ahead and take 2000 turns.

Things that happened with me...
I hit level 6 from killing a rat or some such.
Engrave-tested the pine wand; no effect.
Pet-id'd the rings for cursedness; all were uncursed and so named, and
one turned out to be a +1 ring of Constitution.
Ate a killer bee and got poison resistance, but also lost a point of str.
Reached skilled in longsword.
Pushed a ton of boulders.

I added a bunch of fields to the notes that I hope people will fill in -
things like the locations of the mine split, oracle, stores, vaults,
fountains, sinks, altars, and all the rest. I also added a list to note
any attributes you notice. So far all I know about is Cold resistance
(since she's a valk) and poison resistance, which I gained.

And finally, I added a list of people who have requested to play. Right
now it looks like this:
ChrisStenico - Has it now.
Manuel
777
Jym

which I got from looking at some of the older posts. If your name is not
on that (short) list, please post again in this thread asking to play.

Sure, I'd love to play. But, um, whoever gives it to me needs to give
me explicit instructions on how to load the game.

Had you written with your fingers before doing so
with the wand? (we must know that, so that we don't
make false assumptions).

Thanks for naming. That will help a lot.

To do: Get a unicorn horn.

Do Valkyries start with stealth too? If so, you've got
one more for the list.

Valks get Mojo as a guarenteed first sacrifice, which is a much better

useful artifact like frost brand (or wishing for an artifact if you
want) more unlikely

Not for everyone, there could be someone who doesn't know
(some time ago I didn't know *all* the uses of a unihorn).
In any case, making notes of those "silly" things (just in
case) is not much of an effort.

In what format is the save file? I use Linux, so I would
need to play a test game before if it is Windows -some
keys, symbols and colors are not exactly the same, and
I don't want to make a silly move because of that-.

No Excalibur yet, but the longsword was +3 and worked fine. Neither do
we have a stack of daggers.

> Andy...could you upload the .txt file somewhere?

It is my intention that we upload the final thing at the end, if people
keep good notes. There's really not any more in it but what I've already
said.

I actually played the character through to her death after passing her
on, so I could tell you a lot about what's in dLvl 1-6 that my
predecessors never noted, but that would be cheating. :)

That is a matter of definition. Intrinsic searching, intrinsic leveldrain
resistance, versus having your stuff blown up every time Mjollnir misses
your hand - though that is only if we at all can find Gauntlets of Power so
it can be thrown. Otherwise it will merely blow up the enemy's stuff,
before we can use it.

But according to the artifact spoilers
+7 Excalibur small 11-27 large 11-31 demons average 23.5
+7 Mjollnir 12-38 11-37 26.5
then yes, Mjollnir is better damagewise, but not by much.

(I admit it. I don't like Mjollnir. I have tried using it as the main
weapon, and swore 'never again'. I promise to play nice with young Robin
though, if the rest of the players prefer Mjollnir.)

Yes, but not really enough to be problematic. My current wizard got
magicbane (of course) and then every possible foo-bane before getting fire-
and frostbrand. _That_ will try ones patience.

Things that happened in my 2000 turns (I finished sokoban, so I got 1000
extra)
- Identified pine wand by zapping it at a door (sorry, I am like that
with the "no effect" wands.
- killed a monkey --> leveled up: lvl 7 --> speed
- acquired telepathies
- killed a mold --> leveled up: lvl 8
- identified wand of polymorph, digging and cold by engraving and
stuffed all unnecessary stuff in BoH (from Sokoban)
- Pet-tested rings for cursedness, tried on uncursed rings. Found
invisibility and regeneration (YEAH!)
- ate tin of spinach --> St: 18/01
- found an altar - Used it to determine what was cursed - converted it
- threw gems at coaligned unicorn
- got Mjollnir as a sacrifice gift.
- killed a group of Grey-elves --> stuff is in BoH (also Mithril-armor)

I then sent the file on to Manuel, along with my notes. I also filled in
the position of a vault and of the altar, updated the intrinsics, and
also updated the list of people wanting to play:

Dave - done
Mark - done
Andy - done
Chris Stenico - done
Manuel - passed on to
777
Jym
M.O.
Lasse Nymoen
Sidsel

If your name is not on that (short) list, please post again in this
thread asking to play.

named).
It must be that one.

Wow, looks like you made some good progress. So did you discover what
the pine wand was, or still no effect? Did you try polymorphing any
pet(s)? If not, I'll suggest trying that with the wand if anyone gets
2-3 cats/dogs (lined up, to save zaps). Who knows, you may get lucky and
end up with something nice.

[Nethack round-robin game]

I've just done my 1000 turns (plus 5 extra, out of carelessness),
and am ready to pass it on to 777. I need his full email address,
since I use Google-beta and I always get hidden addresses.

I copy here my notes:

Manuel---
5023 - paper golem -> blank scrolls: 2 uncursed, 2 blessed.
5036 - B/U/C-checked all stuff. ?oGenocide is cursed, should I
nurse-dance?
-> better when more beefy.
New armor: Elven[mithril + cloak + helm]. AC:-1 (was 3)
Left rest of things next to altar on dlvl7, E-worded with /oDig
5100 - Gnome lord carried Smoky potion.
Found coaligned unicorn
5200 - Cleared vault: approx.1500$, total 3100$. 2 more zaps of /oDig
Going back up, heading for the Mines.
Found lost pet housecat, named it Batcat.
5300 - lined up statues at Oracle, to save zaps if a /oStriking is
used.
Not yet broken them.
5400 - Basic in Hammer
5700 - Shopping. Trained pet housecat for shoplifting. Named some cheap
spellbooks after the price the shopkeeper offers you.
6000-6005 Made 5 extra moves, out of carelessness, sorry. I'm like that
when I'm shopping.

Current state: shopping before entering the Mines. The extra stairs
down
still are to be found, on dlvl2. AC is decent, Mojo is killing without
effort. I haven't used the /oPoly, maybe it's a good idea to polypile
at
Minetown where there's a lot of loot, zapping the pet at the same time
as
the pile.

Looks like Jym's next on the list. I say go ahead and email em now, and
let 777 know to ignore the previous save and wait for one from Jym.

Also, I recommend adding email addresses to the names on the list; that
way people don't have to go try to hunt down everyone's email. Did
someone add the people who made requests in this thread?

The word "identified" in "identified pine wand by zapping it at a door"
means he probably discovered what the pine wand was. Chris probably
should've mentioned it was opening in the list.

You can engrave-test polymorph (changes current enscription), so it's
not polymorph.

BUMP!

Looking for Jym's email.... or perhaps M.O.'s at this point, for Jym
seems to have been MIA for over a week now.

As for my 1k turns, was not very uneventful, but fun (as mashing gnomes
always is). Picked up a pickaxe and some candles, and mapped out the
first two levels of the mine. Also had an accident with mouse-travel
when trying to copy my end stats, so Robin's at T7016 now. Sorry about
that =\

Anyway, as soon as I'm directed on who to send the save & txt file to,
we can keep this going!

The baton's been passed on to Mr. Jym here. As he mentioned, he won't
be around for another week. So if Mr. M.O. would like to jump the line
and take his turn before Jym's return, shoot me an email and I'll give
up the save & .txt file.

In other news, a certain Michael has joined the players list. He sent
me an email asking to be added, so I tacked him to the bottom of the
list along with his email addy.

I Was away for 2 weeks in Japan, skipped all rgrn when coming back
yesterday.

I Will be away from my computer for one more week (but with a more regular
internet access). Back on wednesday the 11th. If someone else want to kill
Robin during this time, go ahead.

Sorry for all those interuptions. moyen@loria.fr should be a working
email.

Hypocoristiquement,
Jym.

I'm done. Nothing really happened, except that I explored Mines Dlvl5
and found Minetown on Dlvl6. Here are Robin's ending stats:

St: 18/01 Dx:13 Co:18 In:8 Wi:11 Ch:8 Lawful
Dlvl:6 $:0 HP:92(92) Pw:29(29) AC:-3 Xp:9/3778 T:8065 (yes yes, i'm a
bad person, I lost track of turns.)

There's at least a general and a hardware store in Minetown, and the
priest is co-aligned.

Anyway, happy shopping and identifying and sacrificing to Jym!
