Can i use a 24 inch 1080p with my laptop ?

Hi !

I have a Gateway nv 59 laptop (i3 330m, 4 gb ram and radeon 5650) that have an hdmi output. In couple of months a will build myself a gaming pc. The main reasons to get a gaming pc is to be able to play on a bigger screen than my laptop and of course having better performances in recent games.

I will need a monitor because i don't have one for one. My question is, could I buy one now and use it with my Laptop via HDMI ? Is my compuiter powerfull enough to support that ?

I play games likes diablo 2, torchlight, civ 5. What should the specs on the monitor ? My budget is around 160 $ and I want something like 23-24 inch.

On medium to low for games that strain a computer. For the ones you listed you should be fine but might have to tweak setting so you don't get low frame rates.
