[S] Questions about Medusa Level - Spoily

OK so I killed Medusa via combat, and not my Mirrorbright. Pegasus
appeared, but was only non-combative towards me (Neutral Doppleganger
Valkyrie). Is this normal or does it become a pet if you are Lawful? Are
there any kudos other than a warm fuzzy feeling you get from freeing it as
opposed to stoning the old gal?

Of course I tinned her corpse, so if I ascend, at least I'll have a neat-o
prize to take home and show mother (No Ma, PLEASE don't make soup out of
that can!).

And in a somewhat related vein, if Perseus' statue held the Lev Boots, and
I REALLY wanted to get his Wallet, and if there are already about a million
other artifacts in existence already (so I can't wish for it), is a lucky
altar sacrifice prize the ONLY other way to get it? I yearn for the old
days when you could just name any old Bag of Holding...
