xp and Norton Utilities problem

Last response: in Windows XP

I would uninstall/reinstall Norton Utilities and get all the latest updates and patches for Norton Utilities to see if that will fix the problem.
Was there a version of Win 9X on the hard drive you installed Win XP on?

I used to love Norton Utilities. Very useful suite of tools, but once I got XP it was only more trouble than help. Honestly, XP doesn't even benefit from Norton's tools. XP defrag is faster than norton's and many other of Norton's tools are disabled in XP and are worthless. I simply abandoned the tools and have run XP stably w/o any 3-rd party tools.

I guess you need to think hard and evaluate what exactly you REALLY need NU for, and if XP does it already for you?

Agreed. I'm a Norton fan, but since Windows 98 I haven't found a use for Norton Utilities. It used to be a godsend but since 2000 and especially XP it's become obsolete. I would uninstall it, then reinstall with only Antivirus selected.
