I was playing a monk, and had made it down below Medusa. The usual
maze turned up, with the usual minotaur. Even after hammering the
beast with missile weapons, and zapping it with sleep spells, it was
still beating up on me pretty bad. So I decided to quaff my potion of
full healing and then finish it off.

A ghost came out.

I was paralyzed with fright.

DYWYPI?

So.. Annoying, or Stupid?

I vote for annoying. Although you should remember that the potion is
cloudy, I don't think it qualify as a 'stupid move'.

Ghosts come out of murky potions, not cloudy potions.

c) None of the above.

The correct answer was "milky" potions.

Opps. You are correct.

Is there even a 'murky' potion?

Yes but it doesn't have any special effect like cloudy or smoky potions.

Was the potion ID'd? i.e. cursed, non-blessed?

Stupid, but not very much so. You knew that you were quaffing a milky
potion; you presumably knew about the possible effects of such potions;
and yet you drank it. This is not the fault of the game: you could have
prevented it yourself, by not drinking that potion. I suppose that you
had forgotten that !oFH were milky, which _is_ your mistake, but a very
understandable one.

What has that to do with the price of fish? Neither the potion's ID
status nor its blessedness have the slightest effect on the summoning of
ghosts, nor on the effect of the ghost on you. Djinn are different, but
a ghost does not grant wishes.

It's one of those things that everyone should check for, but no-one does
until it happens to them or they hear a tale of woe, like kicking the
Castle chest open breaking the wand. So stupid, but no stupider than any
other player would be. :)
