Oh, thank you evil gods of bad marketing, for sparing AMD just this one time (verily, we know that you are dearly worshipped by Jerry and Co.)! According to this link, the Athlon may not carry the "Athlon 4" designation outside of its current haunting in the mobile market. Reportedly, the server version of the K7 family will be called Athlon MP, which I deem as a pretty good idea (even if other versions of the K7 can do multiprocessing, placing the "MP" in the server version could make the chip more attractive to server/workstation buyers because it *sounds* more professional (heh, heh, "MP" = "More Professional"?<g>). Calling it "Athlon 4" would have made prospective business buyers think something like "Hey, it's like the Pentium 4, and I heard that P4 isn't for workstations or servers, so this one probably isn't , either". Kudos to clear minds prevailing, if this particular news bit is actually true. Andy Wonisch
