I'm setting up a personal web server and want to use Linux/Apache to do it. My question is: Can I use the standard (free) version of RedHat 8.0, or do I need to purchase the Professional version??

Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can use the free version of Redhat.
For a web server, I prefer either <A HREF="http://www.freebsd.org" target="_new">FreeBSD</A> or <A HREF="http://www.openbsd.org" target="_new">OpenBSD</A>.

Disregard my previous post.

Red Hat 8.0 standard edition will work. It comes with the software as well, Apache, which can be installed during your linux installation or afterwards.

As others have posted, "standard" will do just fine.

If the machine's going to be exposed to the net 24/7, you might want to look at <A HREF="http://www.bastille-linux.org/" target="_new">bastille</A> as well.

<i>Do I look like I care?</i>
