Advice needed for a new laptop

Hello,

I'm currently looking for a new laptop that will last me 3-4 years. I'm not very tech savvy but I will try my best to describe what I am looking for. I want to use it for photoshop, I also want to use my new laptop for schoolwork (word, excel, powerpoint, etc). I also would like a large hard drive space to store all my songs and pictures I have taken over the years and more to come. Thanks in advance to all those can help me.

1. What is your budget?

$600-1200

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?

at least 15''

3. What screen resolution do you want?

Higher the better, or what ever is best for photoshopping

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?

Portable

5. How much battery life do you need?

~3-5 hrs

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?

No

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo / Video editing,watching movies, Etc.)

Photo editing mainly, rarely watch movies on it.

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?

at least 500GB

USA friendly

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?

3-4 years

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?

No bluray needed but a writer would be nice.

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.

I don't like HP, had bad experiences with them.
I prefer asus, acer, and any other.

13. What country do you live in?

USA

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.

Like I said above mainly for photoshopping and storage for my songs and pictures. Hoping to last for a good 3-4 years.

Thanks so much for the quick reply. I see this is pushing my upper range in cost. Are there other choices that are similar to this one? I like to see from many than pick from one.
