how can lyrics as such be top seller... for any amount of time?... [-peep-], i'm wasting my life trying to be a hard working man. i should go make lyrics like this that no one can relate to and make millions of dollars.... WTF is this schit? some guy calling himself 50cent (why only half a dollar??) who only sees a material world, now thats deep. does the guy rap about anything else other than fukcing women, smoking dope, shooting niggas, and driving late model gas guzzlers?

man, if i got shot 9 times and survived i'd probably be a little more open-minded. this guy went dumber. i searched through most of his lyrics... its all the same. its all him rapping about how much money he has, how many women he has, how much crack he has, and other useless material. how is anyone supposed to relate to that? how the hell does he sell records? what kind of people are actually buying this crap? i'm almost certain that the average IQ of those people who pay for "music" as such is lower that the average persons IQ. i mean holy fukcing schit! i'm so dumbfounded.

i really dont know how people can listen to that crap. 90% of all rap has nothing that can separate it from the rest of the 90%. sure rapping and sounding good is not somthing most people can do but all it really takes is practice, not tallent. all you need is a lot of time on your hands walking down the street rapping like some one wants to hear what you have to say. eventually you will sound just like that 90% on the radio and some exec will see you and think you look just like some other dick that is making him millions and think of you as another couple million. he takes you out of the ghetto, gives you fast cars and sluts all around you and bingo your on the radio. then once you are no longer the flavor of the week you fade into nothing and are basicaly left to fend for yourself. at that point if you dont have a ton of money to keep that image up for yourself you disapear. there are the rare cases where they actually do have tallent and they are successfull on their own.

I think it's fair to say that people that are buying this stuff are idiots.

Just like people who tend to watch reality TV have lesser IQs than those who don't, which was proven in a study.

There are always exceptions.. but speaking from my experiences, I haven't seen a successful businessman driving down the street listening to 50cent..

The closest thing I see is some trendy person driving their SUV with spinners looking for people to sell drugs to.

You do the figuring.. I don't know you personally.. so I can generalize all I want when I hit a good portion of it on the head.

Look at ICP.. what the hell was up with that? Years before they used to sell about cleaning up pollution in the ghetto in Detroit.. but they sold out so they could make some money because people would rather listen to stupid stuff on their sick childish (this will attract a certain Forum-molesting-prowler) level than listen to something that is worthwhile.

I like rap (not all artists and not all songs), and aparently a lot of people likes rap. In the link I gave you it says the date when this album was certified 9 Platinum. How much do you need to sell for 1 platinum? 1 million?
And this is only counting the ones sold. I ripped mine from my friend's CD and I usually only get the songs that I like.

I agree that hardly any rap song has a message, but there are some.
Like:
2 Pac - Brenda's Got A Baby.
Wyclef Jean - Perfect Gentleman (I don't think there's any swearing in this one.)
I also like: 2 Pac - Until The End Of Time (I think this one is clean also.)

I like rap just for fun (And some good beats) if I was looking for a message I'll listen to gospel.

Let me give you a little advice, go to 100, 200 parties & they're all the same..... It gets real old, real fast... No pissing on anybodies Cheerio's or anything.....

I used to do wedding photography.... Color Dark Room, half a dozen lenses, 3 different camera bodies, vid cam, 4 or 5 fill flashes..... When I'd seen enough weddings, was about 400 to 500.... They're all the same, same poses, same settings.... Got way booring.... Although I made a lot of cash.... [shrug]

I sold off my assets & forgot about it completly... I still get calls to do weddings though.... Of course I'd bought my stuff from profits on weddings... Your going the other way around....

You like hearing about someone else talk about selling drugs, shooting people for doing morally right things, slapping bitches, etc? You like hearing about someone rap about how rich they are because people are buying their music and they're able to do whatever and get out of the hood because they didn't go to school and such?

With all that being said.. I would easily say you're still in High School.. that seems to be the mentality of high schoolers.. most who make it to their 3rd year of college have a different mentality than that..

By me saying people who buy this kind of rap music are idiots can't be compared to old people and classical music.. that was their era of music.. it has no hate message or violence.. While this rap on the other hand is hateful music.. classical is not offensive to anyone.. (while someone can say it is, proving it might be a little difficult).. I'm sure more people who listen to the music find it offensive and those who don't.. If you'd compare classical to rap.. I'd be my legs more people would find rap more offensive and worthless to society than classical music.

I'll have to hunt down a good reality tv link from a good site.. I'm at work so it's not high on my priority list.


Music is one of the most influencial things on people.. and if you listen to this kind of rap, chances are you'll adopt that mentality.. look at how many people change their ways because of the music they listen to.. straight bills, shorts that look like highwater jeans.. gotta have the new shoes all the time, gold and platinum.. you can easily look at people and figure out if music has an effect on them.. and if it does, you can figure out what kind of music they listen to.
That type always tries to mimic those on Tv and in videos. It's sad. But you don't see a businessman walking around with his jeans sagging and platinum teeth, do ya?

Not saying he/she doesn't listen to it, but chances are good they don't.

There hasn't been a study.. I can listen to anything non-rap in my workplace.. but if I turn on rap, I'll get in trouble because the majority of the music played is offensive..

The closest thing to proof I can say is that I don't know any semi-successful people who listen to that type of music.. and I have a wide variety of friends and acquaintences.

My brother, for example, listens to that music and he's a loser. Still lives at home, no job, no respect for other people and he's starting to speak broken english like many uneducated rappers do..

My other brother doesn't listen to that stuff.. he's doing good.

The neighbor at my dad's listen to the music.. he's been in jail a few times.. he has the big boat car with rims.. he's changing jobs and working for 10 dollars at hour in any factory that will take him.

The pizza place my brother used to work at.. they all listen to the same kind of music.. they're all tattoo'd up with gangsta stuff.. they all sell drugs to make money.. the pizza place is the front.. they have the mentality of select rap music..

while those who are successful don't carry that mentality.. music is part of who we are.. it's a matter of what we select and how we let it effect us..

I don't listen to rap, or country.. I generally listen to the 'rock' stations but I don't dress in anyway like that.. I don't know bands, I don't know lyrics, I don't know anything about.. it's background noise an occasionally I hear a song I do like.

Not everyone is effected by it..but the majority of people who listen to it tend to adapt to that music..
