My girlfriend has been going off on how her nun's pet master mind flayer is
the ultimate in kickassocity.
I told her about my amazing pet aleax who loves killing shopkeepers who
aren't named Izchak. She states that her mmf would pwn my aleax and
suggested there should be a way to pit various pets, pokemon-like, against
each other.
Well, I thought it was funny.

In that case, i'd take a fire elemental; preferably from the elemental
planes, but it doesn't really matter.

As far as pure killing power goes, an Archon is very nearly
unbeatable. An Olog-Hai would come close if you feed a lot of wraith
corpses to her/him. Dragons and Jabberwocks aren't particularly
powerful on their own, but they make great steeds (silver and black
dragons being best because they can't be disintegrated outright; any
sort of dragon is better than a Ki-Lin, because they usually leave a
corpse and can be resurrected).

I think a way of letting pets battle each other (apart from conflict)
could be fun, but it wouldn't really tell much about the actual
strength of the pets.

Dragons actually make poor steeds due to their slow (9) speed. (compare
to jabberwock's 15 speed or Ki-Rin's 18.) But for a pokebattle, I'd
choose a Black Dragon. Use disintegration breath attack!

Pets don't use breath weapons.

They would if they were in a pokibattle.

(can I choose Pestilence? If not, I'll take an Archon without a
second thought.)

Yeah, if you capture Pestilence with a master ball. He's a legendary

Yeah, if my pokemons are allowed to use the breath weapons/spells/etcs,
I want a black dragon too (although I don't like them as a steed
either, due to the aforementioned slowness).

Oh, wait. Do pokemons use equipments? Archon w/ reflection would be a
tough fight.

Although Archons can probably deliver the most damage in the game, and
have both a good AC and pleanty of HP, I find that whenever I get one
of thsoe as a pet (or any other half decent pet), it gets killed by the
first purple worm it sees! Why is this? Im pretty sure pruprle worms
dont do 200 damage per swallow, but it seems whenever a pet is
swallowed by one of these, it is instantly killed! Very anoying

I think it could be done if one of you dies leaving a bones level (with
the pet in it) where the other can reach it. A bit of save-scumming
might be necessary to achieve this, but what the whatever, it's in the
interest of science, not to win the game.

Yep.

Just think the other way round. If archons lose big time
against purple worms, hmmh, what benefit could that yield
for you?

Best,

No need to go through that kind of trouble.

Just start up in wizard mode, wish for two monsters (^G), and don a ring
of conflict.

You may want to go to a large room first, and retreat to the other side
of the room before you do so.

By the way, the way you mentioned would be biased: your own pet would
have a big advantage, since the pet-turned-monster will not attack, but
only retaliate.
