At DL2, I just found a (cross-aligned) altar and a huge (10x6) frozen food
store !

A bit more than 40 ice boxes are waiting to give me intrisic, convert the
altar and get artefacts :)

I'll probably take a cockatrice corpse out of the 17th box because of
boredom. Or simply die before I grab enough money to buy all this.

Hypocoristiquement,
Jym.

At the end of checking the insides of the boxes (and 5 zormkids for a
shrieker, felt healthy :) ), a gas spore entered the shop. My pet
attacked it.

Your are caught in the explosion (26pts).
DYWYPI ?

I would expect monsters created in an ice box to already be
aged. Did sacrafices actually work? I won't have access
to wizard mode to try it for myself until tomorrow so I'm
being lazy by asking on the group. In game play ice boxes
are heavy enough that I've always eaten them empty before
carrying them to a stash near an altar.

Did you try any before the spore did you in?

The fact that you can safely eat them implies these corpses are still
fresh. If you don't mind, then your god doesn't mind.

No :-(
But in another game, there was an ice box in Minetown and I sacced all its
contents without trouble. (it was in nethack, not in slash'em)

Concerning heavy (ice) boxes, I had sort of a YANI (maybe it was already
proposed) :
with some mean of levitation (either dipping in a potion, a spell or maybe
adding a wand) you could make the boxe levitate for some time. During this
time, it behaves like a boulder : you can puch it easily provide the next
square is empty.
This just looks like the best way to carry this stuff.

[of course, the trouble is that this will allow you to cast levitation on
other objects and monsters, with some new behaviour to handle, OTOH, just
think about a ranger with lots of arrows being zapped with a wand of
levitation and starting to travel all around the big room with
backfire...]

[and you could say that heavy shoes (iron boots) would prevent you from
levitating]

Hypocoristiquement,
Jym.
