Hi. I wanted to know if it's possible to play 120 fps on a monitor that isn't 60hz. I read about gaming rigs on another forum and someone said they played at 120 fps using a Samsung SyncMaster BX2440 which isn't 120hz and I was told that you needed 120hz monitor in order to go past 60fps without encountering screen tearing. Is this true and how did that guy manage to play at 120hz with that monitor?

Oh. And if I enable V-Sync my actual FPS will change to my monitors refresh rate?

edit: And what's wrong with seeing parts of 120 frames?

Yes, v-sync will cap you at your refresh rate.

Do you really not understand that seeing half of 2 images on the screen is bad? I'll let you figure that out (it is what we call screen tearing btw).

Oh aha. Didn't know what you meant by that.
