Opening programs

When I click on a desktop icon, of late the program is very slow to open; after a few minutes waiting with just a blank screen, I will click on the tab to close the screen and suddenly the program appears. This is unusual, but it happens all the time.

First update and run your anti-virus software. Then download, update and run malwarebytes, free. Then defragg your hard drives. Let us know if this helps.
