More about hard drive detected error installing windows
  1. Your W7 disk is either missing files or your HDD is dying...
  2. Unhook any extra drives.
Leave ONLY the DVD drive and the Hard Drive you want to install Windows to.

It's also possible that the SATA connection you are using requires a driver disk. If so, try a different SATA chipset if possible (different color).

If you're STILL stuck, take out the hard drive and hook it up to a different computer to see if it is working.
  3. Do as Photonboy says and make sure the hard drive shows up in bios before you try to install. Make sure all the connections are firm.
