Problem with start up

Hello, When I turn my pc on, it will let me sign in, but won't show my start up screen. ,It shows a windows screensaver picture only. I then turn it off and try again..Sometimes it works fine but not often. Can anyone be of assistance please?

Run a check disk on the drive. If you have a utility in the BIOS to scan the drive for errors, do that. Would help if you put in what happened before this started.

I did nothing unusual at any and all start ups. I checked BIOS and it shows all thing's run well. I sent it to hp repair in Jeffersonville, Indiana and they reloaded the hardware/OS Driver which they put down as corrupt. I have used the four recovery discs and etc. Nothing seems to work. I restart it after a windows install and have to use the Main Menu on my monitor to bring up the taskbar and pointer. Thanx for tryin'!
