Yes, it's a close race, but the Tolutin wins. You h=know what was so screwed up about Tom's test? He should have left the Tolutin at 133FSB and underclocked the T-Bird to the same speed at 133FSB, instead of overclocking the Tolutin and screwing up the memory timings.

This is true - clock for clock the Tualatin wins. But then we are not talking clock for clock anymore are we?

The end result with this current chip is that is is faster at stock than a PIII, and faster at comprable speeds than an Athlon (No bnech against P4 unfortunately), however there are faster Athlons and P4s out there and until we see pricing that says this chip is cheaper than the comparable Athlon (or P4) - it is not great - especially since it needs a new motherboard.

I have no idea what this chip will scale to. If it will OC past 1.4 then it has some legs, but it appears already outclassed by the P4 and Athlon. Is it intended to be the new low cost option to take over from Celeron?

nice link

the ekstra 256kb cache gives a allmost 30% increase in quake3. Thats a nice boost.

When A4 and P4 moves to 0,13 micron and 512kb cache I ekspect same performance increase.
