Thanks for reading.
I have a Canon PIXMA MG8150 which has stopped booting up and shows Error Code 5030.
I am unable to find this code listed anywhere; most error codes seem to be AlphaNumeric.
I would appreciate if someone could offer me some help.
I can access service mode and using the service software, can do nozzle checks and test prints etc.
Many thanks StoneWill for taking the time to respond.
I will certainly check the encoder strip over the next couple days and let you know how I got on.
I assume that the complete length of strip is within reach of being cleaned, or will I have to dismantle?
I have cleaned the encoder strip as suggested, but unfortunately the Error Code 5030 is still there.
I also notice that in Service Mode, the Blue Led is constant, whilst the Yellow/Amber Led gives a 6 flash sequence.

This error was my fault; the printhead had not been inserted correctly.
I corrected this by inserting the 2 outside cartridges first, magenta and yellow.
This ensured that the printhead was properly seated.
