After recently installing quake 2 all my directx games have stoped working. They say that they need DX8.1b or higher and latest video drivers to work. Whats annoying is that ive got them both installed. I have DX9 and Catalyst 2.5 installed. I ran the Directx program and it said that direct3d wasnt working and i should install latest video drivers. I have Windows XP Pro SP1 and a radeon 8500. Please help me.

You r card might has been working at the wrong AGP speed. Try lower it down if possible, maybe AGP 2X or so...

Be sure to install the latest video card drivers and try reinstalling the latest version of DirectX. Check in your BIOS to make sure your video card is running at 4x, or try lowering the speed.
