The U2711 is a IPS LED panel which would be the stronger of the two for me.

My 2 cents:
ASUS has a monitor that is cheaper and performs just as well as the U2711. Also, the customer support with ASUS is stronger than it is with DELL. With DELL you typically have to pay for US based support otherwise you get sent to a call center wherever that may be. I'll list the direct competition you may like this one better as well.

The U2711 has an integrated card reader and an usb2.0 hub, the U2713 has a 3.0 hub, but no card reader. The asus has build in speakers. But the main point for all the 27" screens is the very high dpi! With the standard windows settings you get very small icons and fonts!

Well when set to 1440p yes the icons and standard windows will be smaller however you can change the resolution to 1080p if you so desire.

Thank you for the speedy reply and a Merry Christmas or Happy Holiday to you.

If I am using a U2711 should I shift to this?

If you are using a U2711, no you should not move to this. They are very similar.

However, if you are purchasing new, get the U2713 because its a brand new model with newer technology that Dell plans to use to replace the U2711.

The U2711 is the best of 2009 technology, the 2713 is the best of 2012 (lower power draw, LED, etc) -- luckily for you monitors don't change that quickly.

With the U2713H now more available in the market is it worth selling an RMA'd U2711 for?

I said no, but its totally your call.
