same issue as CLGersh, trying to upgrade a PII 300/66 to a decent computer.
I'm thinking about going with a 533 just so I can be 99.9% positive it will work, but then there is a slotket that will lower voltage and we can get a nice 766 instead.
ideas ladies and gents?

Powerleap makes a slotket that will reduce voltage. But I would just go with the 533 PPGA (NOT the 533 FC-PGA), because of the expense of the Poweleap.

The Abit Slotket III works well too, but niether the Abit nor Iwill actually controll voltage, they simply change voltage detected by BIOS. Both require a motherboard capable of supplying that voltage. The Slotket III is available for $9 at googlegear.com.

well, if thats true, I'll be going PPGA, that was my initial instinct anyway.
I wondered if there may not be a bios issue with going to FCPGA.
Gateway motherboard, pretty much no support there.

Crashman is right, the Powerleap PL-iP3 rev. 2 is the most flexible of all available slotkets. But at $40 including unnecessary heatsinks, they're expensive.
